Garage door opener installation involves setting up the motorized system that opens and closes your garage door.
Attempting to fix or install your opener on your own can lead to more problems later; professional installation makes sure it is set up and tested safely.
Most modern garage door openers are controlled by a switch on the garage wall or with a handheld remote control. Newer openers can also connect to Wi-Fi and smart devices. Even if your current opener is repairable, many people choose to upgrade to a new opener for enhanced security and convenience.
If you’re not quite sure what you need, we can help you choose the right model for your door and your home. All you have to do is get in touch, and we’ll take care of the rest!
Right now you get a free keypad with any new opener we install. Ask us which smart features fit your door and your Wi-Fi. Already have one? Here is how to program or reset your opener and keypad.

After reviewing your service request, we’ll provide you with a clear, affordable estimate. We focus on transparency, giving you accurate pricing with no surprises.
We work around your schedule, with emergency repairs 24/7 and installations scheduled around you. In many cases, we can get your garage door up and running the same day you contact us.
Every installation is carefully inspected to make sure everything is working safely and smoothly. Our goal is to get you set up with a system you can rely on for years to come.

Along with new installations, we also handle garage door opener repairs. Most openers last around 10 to 15 years, but issues like electrical problems, stripped gears or worn drive parts can cause them to stop working. If your opener can be repaired, there’s no reason to replace it, though older or heavily damaged units can sometimes cost more to fix than replace. When you call us, we’ll start by inspecting your opener to see if a repair is the right option. If a fix is possible, we’ll let you know and take care of it (often the same day). If replacement makes more sense, we’ll explain why and help you decide what to do next. To make sure your system is fully taken care of, every repair visit includes a full safety check of the door. We back our work with a guarantee, because we want your garage door to operate smoothly and safely long after we leave.
Good experience and quick tune up service.
Great job and very quick!
The tech, Tony, came out for the general tune-up I requested. He determined my springs needed replaced. I wasn’t planning on doing that, but agreed. Tony was very nice and seemed knowledgeable and experienced.
They did an excellent job on my garage door. Will have them back again to do additional services.
I called them on short notice when I found a frayed garage door cable. They were out to my home in a couple of hours. Danny did a thorough inspection and found some other items that needed attention. In all the total price was reasonable and I was happy to taken care of all in one trip before winter.
ProActive came and corrected my door that was having problems closing, lubricated gears & wheels & helped tension out alot, very happy will use them again.
Amazing service. Came out within 90 minutes of me calling after a tension broke. Couldn't be happier with the service. Would highly recommend.
They did a good job installing and explaining what needed to be done.
He did a good job
Excellent service. Technician Tony was very helpful and explained the whole process. Both doors open and close nicely and no longer make loud sounds. Thank you Proactive Door!
Came out during scheduled time. Was quick and efficient.
Very friendly and knowledgeable with our door problems. Clearly able to do work professionally. Highly recommend Proactive!
For most single and double home garage doors, a 1/2 HP opener or its DC equivalent is enough. Heavy wood, insulated carriage-house or oversized doors do better with 3/4 HP or more. The springs should do most of the lifting, so we always check the door’s balance first.
Usually not with the same motor, because most openers are built for one or the other. The simple way is to replace the opener with a belt drive model, which is much quieter. Any new opener we install comes with a free keypad.
Both are built to last for years. A chain is a little tougher for very heavy doors and needs some lubrication, but it is louder. A belt is quiet and needs almost no upkeep, and it costs a little more. The motor and circuit board usually wear out before the chain or belt does.
Watch for an opener that grinds or keeps getting louder, a motor or rail that shakes, a belt or chain that slips or skips, or a door that stops or reverses for no reason. Most openers last around 10 to 15 years. If yours is older and needs a major repair, a new opener often makes more sense, and we will tell you honestly which way we would go.
A DC motor with a belt drive. DC motors start and stop softly, which is quieter and easier on the door, and many DC models take a battery backup so the door still works when the power goes out. A wall-mount opener, which sits beside the door instead of on the ceiling, is another quiet choice.
